This report summarizes a six-month effort to better understand the role that energy storage technologies can play in enabling public power utilities to lower barriers to energy storage integration with fossil fuel generation assets. This report summarizes responses from public power utilities participating in an energy storage working group and recommendations intended to support stability, reliability, and resilience for public power generation owners and distribution companies. The strategies for implementing energy storage at community-owned electric utilities look to how this technology can be mutually beneficial for everyone connected to the electric grid.
