Owners of General Motors and Ford electric vehicles will have access to Tesla charging stations under agreements that the automakers recently reached with Tesla.
In late May, Ford said it had reached an agreement with Tesla Motors that will provide Ford electric vehicle customers access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the U.S. and Canada, doubling the number of fast-chargers available to Ford EV customers starting Spring 2024.
A Tesla-developed adapter will provide Ford F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit vehicles fitted with the Combined Charging System port access to Tesla’s V3 Superchargers.
Ford will equip future EVs with the North American Charging Standard charge port, removing the need for an adapter for direct access to Tesla Superchargers, starting in 2025.
General Motors on June 8 announced a collaboration with Tesla to integrate the North American Charging Standard connector design into its EVs beginning in 2025.
Additionally, the collaboration will expand access to charging for GM EV drivers at 12,000 Tesla Superchargers, and growing, throughout North America.
The Tesla Supercharger Network will be open to GM EV drivers starting in 2024 and will initially require the use of an adapter.
Beginning in 2025, the first GM EVs will be built with a North American Charging Standard inlet for direct access to Tesla Superchargers without an adapter.
GM said will also integrate the Tesla Supercharger Network into its vehicle and mobile apps, helping drivers quickly and easily locate, pay for, and initiate charging at available Tesla Superchargers.
