The New Braunfels Utilities Board of Trustees has formally approved a CEO agreement, designating Ryan Kelso as the new CEO of the Texas public power utility.
The decision was formalized during a Jan. 25 regular Board of Trustees Meeting.
After an extensive search, Kelso, who had served as NBU's Interim CEO since July 1, 2023, emerged as the clear choice to lead NBU into its next phase, the utility said.
The selection process, initiated in October, engaged NBU employees and the community through a survey conducted by Baker Tilly.
Nearly 200 participants shared insights on the qualities they desired in the new CEO.
The comprehensive process led to identifying Kelso as the most qualified candidate.
Kelso said he looks forward to engaging with the community and hearing from customers.
To that end, the utility has established a CEO page on NBU’s website, nbutexas.com/CEO.
“I welcome you to submit any questions or comments, and I will respond. Hearing your voice is very important to me and to NBU as a whole,” Kelso said.
