Florida public power utility Kissimmee Utility Authority on April 2 unveiled its electric vehicle charging program for residential customers.
The KUA home EV charger is a 7.68kW/240 volt charger and depending on the EV battery size or state of charge, the charger will provide up to 32 miles of range per hour when charging.
The Level 2 EV charger comes with a 25-foot cord that can be used indoors or outdoors. It’s also ENERGY STAR™ certified and works on all EV models, KUA said.
KUA also maintains more than 60 active-public commissioned commercial EV chargers throughout the service territory.

Eligible KUA customers must be the property owner or have the written permission of the property owner prior to installation.
Using the Level 2 charger will require a NEMA 6-50 EV outlet, which may require additional costs for electrical work. Once the proper EV Charging receptacle is verified, KUA can assist customers with set up and installation of the charger and any manufacturer warranty inquiries.
KUA customers are also eligible for a $200 rebate and, after the rebate, the charger costs $399. Customers can either add the after-rebate cost of the charging system to their electric bill, or they can pay for it with 12 monthly installments with no interest.
The home EV charger comes standard with a full three-year manufacturer’s warranty.
