Grant PUD CEO and GM Rich Wallen Accepts Executive Role with Georgia Cooperative

Grant PUD’s CEO and General Manager Rich Wallen has accepted an executive role with his former employer, Georgia-based Oglethorpe Power, effective March 31, Grant PUD said on Feb. 6.

“Rich has been communicating with us about his interest in the Oglethorpe Power position,” said Grant PUD Commission President Terry Pyle. “We are grateful for his leadership at Grant PUD and the improvements he made here. Our commitment to our staff and customers is that our board will meet soon to develop a transition plan for how we will go about filling the general manager position.”

Wallen worked with Oglethorpe Power, an electric cooperative, prior to joining Grant PUD in 2017 as the Director of Power Production. He is returning to Oglethorpe as their Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Washington State-based Grant PUD is a public power utility providing power and fiber service for Grant County, Wash.

It owns and operates the Priest Rapids Project on the Columbia River in Central Washington.

The Priest Rapids Project, comprising Priest Rapids and Wanapum dams, has the capacity to produce more than 2,000 megawatts of clean, renewable and reliable electricity.
