Heartland Energy CEO Russell Olson Celebrates 20 Years with Joint Action Agency

Heartland Energy CEO Russell Olson is celebrating twenty years with the South Dakota-based joint action agency in February.

Olson joined Heartland in 2005 as manager of community and economic development, where he played a key role in developing various economic development and customer service programs.

In 2013, he became CEO and has led the company through significant industry changes and challenges.

Under his leadership, Heartland launched the Energy ONE Incentive, providing a special energy-only rate for large electricity users, and strategically divested from excess generation assets to ensure long-term rate stability for customers.

He has led Heartland Energy through a re-branding campaign, introduced new customer programs and events, and most recently, oversaw a strategic planning process to position Heartland for the future.

“Olson's dedication to innovation and customer partnerships has been instrumental in Heartland's success over the past two decades. We commend him for his outstanding leadership and dedication!,” Heartland Energy said.
