The American Public Power Association’s Legislative & Resolutions Committee on Feb. 25 approved nine policy resolutions during the association’s 2025 Legislative Rally.
These member-sponsored resolutions will guide APPA’s advocacy efforts in 2025 and beyond.
Of note were resolutions on:
- Reliable and Affordable Energy Infrastructure: APPA strongly supports efforts to maintain a reliable and robust energy grid throughout the United States, which is essential to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public and to supporting domestic growth.
- Support of Increased Federal Efforts to Address the Growing Threats of Wildfires: APPA urges Congress to streamline approval of vegetation management and increase appropriations for wildfire mitigation and suppression at various federal agencies, including the Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Commerce, as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
- Support for Hydropower and Power Marketing Agencies: APPA supports hydropower as a zero-emission resource that provides grid reliability, and supports the mission of the power marketing administrations and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
- Support for Safe and Effective Drone Use by Public Power Utilities: APPA supports the Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation, and other relevant federal agencies continuing to create regulatory frameworks that allow unmanned aircraft systems to safely reach their full potential.
