CPS Energy Board of Trustees Elects New Chair and Vice Chair

The CPS Energy Board of Trustees recently voted to elect current Vice Chair, Dr. Francine Sanders Romero, as the new Board Chair and Dr. Willis Mackey as the new Vice Chair, effective February 1, 2025.

Romero currently chairs the CPS Energy Operations Oversight Committee and is a member of the Technology and Resilience Committee and the Risk Management Committee. This will be Romero’s third year on the CPS Energy Board of Trustees.

Mackey is in his second term on the CPS Energy Board of Trustees. He was reappointed in December 2022 following the end of his term as Board Chair. He is also the Chair of the Risk Management Committee and is a member of the Audit and Finance, Employee Benefits Oversight, and Personnel Committees for CPS Energy. This will be Dr. Mackey’s seventh year on the CPS Energy Board of Trustees.

Throughout their tenure on the board, both Trustees have played a pivotal role in supporting key initiatives that have enhanced CPS Energy’s reliability and helped adapt strategies to meet the evolving needs of the growing San Antonio community, including modernizing CPS Energy’s software systems.

The CPS Energy Board of Trustees consists of four citizens residing in each of the four geographical quadrants within Bexar County and the Mayor of San Antonio. The Mayor serves as an ex-officio member and represents the City Council to keep the CPS Energy Board of Trustees advised and informed. Other Board members include Janie Martinez Gonzalez and John Steen.
