In less than 36 hours since landfall, Florida public power utilities have restored power to nearly all customers impacted by Hurricane Debby, Amy Zubaly, Executive Director, Florida Municipal Electric Association, said on Aug. 6.
FMEA member utilities have restored more than 80,000 customer outages from Hurricane Debby, “with more than 99.9 percent of all public power customers currently receiving power. Florida’s public power utilities will continue to work around the clock to restore the remaining customers,” she said.
Meanwhile, Florida public power utility JEA on Aug. 6 said that since Sunday morning, JEA had restored power for more than 111,000 customers as of 2 p.m. Aug. 6.
“Safety is our number one priority for employees and our customers. On behalf of all of us at JEA, please continue to remain safe,” said JEA Interim CEO and Managing Director Vickie Cavey.
JEA noted it has worked throughout the year preparing for severe weather through significant investments to harden our electric, water and sewer systems; technology and facility upgrades, and tree trimming throughout our service territory.
