The Energy Authority announced that the Grand River Dam Authority will join TEA as its newest member, effective July 1, 2024.
GRDA joins existing Members, including American Municipal Power, Inc.; City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri; Gainesville Regional Utilities of Gainesville, Florida; JEA of Jacksonville, Florida; Nebraska Public Power District; and the South Carolina Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper).
As a member of TEA, GRDA will have access to TEA’s full suite of services, including energy trading and risk management, portfolio management, advanced analytics, advisory solutions, and more.
GRDA is Oklahoma’s largest public power electric utility, managing more than 2,500 MW of generation, including three hydroelectric dams, fossil-fuel-derived generation, wind, and solar.
As a steward of the Grand and Illinois Rivers in Oklahoma, GRDA also manages over 70,000 surface acres on its lakes. Given the magnitude and complexity of GRDA’s system, this strategic relationship with TEA will create the opportunity for tremendous value.
TEA’s service offerings will enable GRDA to better navigate the complexities of the changing energy industry while continuing to provide reliable and affordable electricity to the communities it serves, TEA said.
“The electric industry is in a time of tremendous change. To be better situated to meet those changes, GRDA is becoming a Member of TEA to leverage the talented team that it has assembled. Our partnership with TEA has produced tangible results to date and we look forward to working more closely with them as a Member, to mitigate our risks and provide additional benefits to our customers. We are grateful to have a trusted organization in TEA that allows our GRDA team to focus on strategic initiatives and provide the best service at a low cost to our customers,” stated Dan Sullivan, President and CEO of GRDA.
“We are thrilled to be serving GRDA as an extension of their talented staff and value the opportunity to work together to further optimize GRDA’s diverse portfolio of generation assets. We look forward to the leadership GRDA will provide to TEA as they join our existing Members, working together to help shape the future of public power and our organization as a whole,” noted Joanie Teofilo, President and CEO of TEA.
