LADWP Electric Crews Continue Work, Making Progress on Power Restoration

Over the last four weeks, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power electric crews and mutual aid partners have been working 16-hour shifts, 7 days a week, to safely restore electric service to the Pacific Palisades area, focusing their efforts on areas with the least damage to power distribution infrastructure, LADWP reported on Feb. 7.

“Tremendous progress has been made and temporary restoration of all customers whose homes can receive power is expected in the coming days,” it said.

As of Thursday, February 6, power has been restored to 5,718 customers in Pacific Palisades. Crews are working towards a target goal of restoring an estimated 1,200 remaining residential customer homes that are capable of having power safely restored, by Sunday, February 9.

Some individual restorations may take more time based on the complexity of the repairs which can only be identified once crews temporarily restore power to a circuit.

Since the restoration efforts began, crews have removed approximately 700 burned and destroyed poles, installed more than 50,000 feet of new 4.8 KV cable, and replaced more than 2,000 feet of secondary wire. Progress continues daily with crews setting poles, stringing wires, and installing transformers in an effort to get as many customers reenergized as possible.

Crews are focusing construction and restoration work in areas where repairs can be most readily and efficiently completed to restore service to larger groups of customers wherever possible.
