LUMA to Add Over 990 MW of Clean Energy to Puerto Rico Grid

LUMA, which operates and manages the electric power transmission and distribution system in Puerto Rico, recently announced an agreement with Linxon US LLC and their partner AtkinsRéalis Caribe, to build nine energy interconnection points.

This collaboration will add more than 990 megawatts of clean energy and over 700 MW of energy storage to Puerto Rico’s electric grid.

The nine interconnection points will provide the necessary infrastructure to rapidly integrate renewable energy projects, advancing Puerto Rico’s energy goals outlined in the Integrated Resource Plan, LUMA said.

In June 2020, the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority and the Puerto Rico Public-Private Partnership Authority selected LUMA Energy to operate, maintain and modernize the electricity transmission and distribution system of PREPA for fifteen years through a public-private partnership.
