TID General Manager Michelle Reimers Announces Departure

Turlock Irrigation District General Manager Michelle Reimers has announced her resignation effective June 21, 2024, the California public power utility said on May 31.

Reimers has served as General Manager since January 2020. 

Reimers, who started her career at TID in 2006 working in public information, led with a focus on transparency, collaboration, and a commitment to customers throughout her career at TID, the utility noted.

Reimers held various leadership roles at the District, ultimately becoming the first woman general manager in the agency’s 137 year history.

“Reimers is known for her tenacity in tackling problems pragmatically and encouraging an environment of collaboration. Reimers’ leadership helped influence the widespread understanding of the benefits of public power and the importance of efficient, data-driven water and energy management through advocacy efforts at the state and federal levels,” TID said.

During her tenure as General Manager, Reimers focused on ensuring the community’s water supply future through negotiating a Voluntary Agreement for the Tuolumne River and filing for new water rights to capture flood flows to enhance our water resources. She focused on improving the customer experience through launching the customer portal MyTID.org for electric customers and the development of online grower tools for irrigation customers.

As a professional communicator, Reimers represented TID on numerous association boards and frequently, through political testimonies, advocated on behalf of the needs and interests of TID’s customers.
