Transmission
In a landmark decision, the Public Utility Commission of Texas on April 24 approved a plan to build the Electric Reliability Council of Texas region’s first extra high voltage transmission lines to meet the Permian Basin’s rapidly growing power needs.

To increase power reliability and reduce potential safety risks ahead of summer, Arizona public power utility Salt River Project partnered with the cities of Apache Junction and Chandler to remove 59 trees growing too close to power lines and planted 264 new trees as part of its Right Tree, Right Place program.

House Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill (R-AR) recently wrote a letter to House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) to ask him to “fully support the tax-exempt status of municipal bonds -- a critical tool that has underpinned American infrastructure and community development for over a century.”

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy recently urged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission asking that FERC direct the commission’s enforcement unit to launch an investigation of the PJM Interconnection’s 2024 Base Residual Auction for the 2025/2026 Delivery Year and examine whether market manipulation occurred. Murphy made his request in a letter he sent to FERC Commissioners.
